I’m an executive producer, writer and performer, who put together a world class DVD. I’m a writer, arranger, producer who put together multiple albums. I’m a writer, poet, author with a published book out in the marketplace. My name is Bo Ellis, owner of Bo Knows Entertainment. I have what it takes to work with any client, with whatever sound they may be shopping for. I believe because of my experiences living all over the world and as well every region of this country, I have been able to appreciate all people and all genres of music to the point that now I’m able to create just about anything. I believe I would be able to easily collaborate with clients once knowing what they want to do and what type of sound they are looking to have. I understand all audio engineers are not the same and with the education I have learned from the number two ranked school in the country, on top of my previous experiences, I stand out amongst the other engineers in the music industry.
When I was in the 4th grade, I saw a movie that forever changed my life. I’ve must have watched it over a hundred times now and I still have a copy on DVD at home. The movie I am talking about is Krush Groove. I knew after watching it that I wanted to create music, one way or another. I went to school and formed a rap group with my cousin and another classmate. Once I got to the 6th grade, my mom made me join the band and told me to pick whatever instrument I wanted. I choose the trombone because I was told that is the most powerful instrument of them all. Learning how to play music in junior high and high school taught my ears how to listen. Listen to the sound that gets no credit, but if you were to take it away, the sound would be missing something. I also learned when to add a sound and how loud a sound needs to be, for it to be effective.
I was in the US Army for over ten years. I have lived all over the world performing, writing and creating everywhere that I have been, even during the war in Iraq. Being a soldier trained me to dependable, reliable, achievement-oriented and Independent, all requirements needed to be successful in this industry. One of the courses I took at Full Sail University that has developed me into the engineer that stands before you today is 'The Principles of music that explores harmony, melody, rhythm, and form with an introduction to musical keyboard and ear training'. A course like this was relevant to me understanding popular music using common industry terms. Another important course called the 'Principles of Electronics' taught the fundamentals of electricity as it relates to the professional needs of the entertainment industry. The class focused on safety procedures, and knowledge of electrical systems as they apply to studio and live-event production. In another course that I took at Full Sail called 'The Advanced Audio Workstations' helped me gain knowledge and skills in digital audio-workstation theory and techniques. This course helped me apply my skills, highly specialized concepts and procedures such as advanced synchronization, surround production data compression and encoding used for DVDs, multichannel feature films. If there is a client needing services, I will do my best to address their needs in a professional, artistic kind of way, showing them that yes, we mean business, but we like to have fun while taking care of business.
